Why Anaheim Homeowners Choose Cambria Construction

We’re Polaris Contractors, and we provide independent Cambria quartz countertop installation, repair, and fabrication service throughout Anaheim, including the flatland tracts of 92804 and 92805 and the hillside homes of 92807. We also offer Newport Beach Cambria service for nearby homeowners. Our crew has machined, seamed, and installed Cambria slabs in hundreds of Anaheim kitchens and baths, so we know how each series behaves in real Southern California conditions – from the dry heat of August to the occasional winter rain that makes cabinet settling more likely. We’re not authorized or endorsed by Cambria. We’re an independent contractor who specifies, cuts, and installs the slab in-house, which means one accountable team handles your template, fabrication, and install. Why Trust Polaris Contractors for Your Cambria Construction?

Cambria quartz is a dense, 93% pure quartz surface with a resin binder, and it does not behave like granite or laminate. It machines differently. It seams differently. It reacts differently to heat and settling. Most countertop problems we see in Anaheim aren’t material defects – they’re installation errors or substrate issues that someone missed during templating. We’re familiar with the full Cambria line, from Brittanicca’s gold veining to Skara Brae’s dramatic movement, and we know which series will show a chip faster, which reads best under Anaheim’s harsh morning light, and which requires the most careful seam layout to avoid visible shadowing. Rick Sondermann, our owner, grew up in Corona del Mar and has spent nearly three decades building and renovating homes across Orange County before bringing that experience to Anaheim, including work with Cambria in Costa Mesa. He learned construction fundamentals at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, and his core rule for countertop work is simple: do it right the first time – the second time always costs more.

Common Cambria Construction Problems We Fix in Anaheim

After years of inspecting failed countertop work across Anaheim’s mix of 1950s tract homes and Anaheim Hills hillside properties, we see the same issues repeat. Here are the five most common Cambria problems we correct:

  • Seam separation and shadowing at inside corners. This is the most common Cambria issue in Anaheim’s older housing stock. The 1950s and 1960s slab-on-grade homes in 92804 and 92805 shift over time, and the concrete slab moves just enough that the cabinet run loses level. When the substrate moves, the Cambria seam opens – or worse, the slab sets with a visible shadow line at the corner seam. We see this constantly in west Anaheim. The fix is re-leveling and shimming the cabinet run before re-seating the slab, not just smearing more color-matched adhesive into the gap.
  • Chip-outs and edge burn on undermount sink cutouts. Cambria’s resin binder is tougher than granite, but it will chip and leave burn marks if a fabricator drills too fast or uses dull bits. We see this on the sink cutouts and faucet holes of jobs done by production shops that rush fabrication. Once the edge is burned or chipped, the only real fix is careful re-machining with fresh diamond tooling – and if the chip runs too deep, the slab section may need replacement.
  • Etching and dull spots on honed finishes. Torquay’s cool gray matte look and other honed Cambria series show hard-water film and acidic cleaner damage faster than polished finishes. In Anaheim, the local tap water carries mineral content that dries into a visible film, especially on honed surfaces near the sink. We advise specific pH-neutral cleaning practices and can restore minor surface dulling, though deep etching from acid exposure requires re-polishing or replacement.
  • Thermal shock cracks near cooktops. Cambria can crack if the slab is installed tight to a heat source without an expansion gap. Quartz expands and contracts differently than the surrounding metal trim or adjacent cabinetry, and Anaheim kitchens see real temperature swings – especially in older west-side homes without air conditioning where the ambient kitchen temperature can swing 20 degrees between morning and afternoon. We always verify the expansion gap during any installation or repair visit.
  • Substrate-induced cracks on hillside homes. Anaheim Hills properties in 92807 sit on sloped lots, and even well-built hillside foundations settle differently than flatland slabs. When a hillside home settles, the cabinet run can twist slightly, and that torsion cracks quartz countertops that were installed without proper substrate support. We account for this during templating by verifying substrate flatness and, where needed, recommending plywood reinforcement before the slab goes down.

Cambria Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

When a Cambria surface is chipped at the edge or a seam has opened, we don’t automatically recommend tearing the whole top out. We assess the slab structurally. If the quartz body is sound and the issue is cosmetic or substrate-related, we repair and reseat. We use Cambria-spec slab material matched to the original series, quality carbide and honed-diamond tooling, premium adhesives, and color-matched seam kits – never bargain consumables. We also keep a local stock of common Cambria edge profiles and seam adhesive tints in our Anaheim service area, which lets us turn around most repair jobs faster than a shop that has to special-order matching compound. When cracking runs through the body of the quartz, or when the slab has multiple failed seams from a bad original install, we’ll be honest and recommend replacement. A patched top that will fail again isn’t a deal – it’s a future headache. Call (855) 473-6535 if you’re unsure which camp your countertop falls into, and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Our Cambria Service Process – Step by Step

Here’s exactly what happens when you hire Polaris Contractors for a Cambria countertop, island, or backsplash job in Anaheim:

  1. 1
Template and substrate check. We laser-template every job before fabrication, and we don’t just measure the top surface. We check the cabinet run for level, verify the substrate is flat enough for Cambria’s installation tolerance, and flag any settling or structural issues before the slab is cut. In older Anaheim tract homes, this step catches the cabinet settling and unpermitted addition problems that would otherwise ruin a fresh countertop.
  2. 2
Slab selection and fabrication. You choose your Cambria series – Brittanicca, Ella, Skara Brae, Torquay, or any other current line – and we handle the cutting, edge profiling, and seam layout in-house. We machine with fresh diamond tooling to avoid edge burn and chip-outs, and we plan seam placement so the natural veining reads as continuous as possible across the run.
  3. 3
Install and seam. We install with premium adhesives and color-matched seam kits, shimming the substrate where needed so the slab sits dead level. For Anaheim Hills jobs, we verify the drainage and slope considerations don’t affect the cabinetry platform supporting the stone. We respect the expansion gap at cooktops and walls – a detail that prevents thermal shock cracks later.
  4. 4
Test and walkthrough. After every install, we run water at the sink, check the seam from multiple angles and light conditions, and verify edge profiles are clean. We walk through with you and explain what we did, what to avoid, and how to keep the surface looking right in Anaheim’s specific climate.
  5. 5
Warranty on our workmanship. Cambria’s manufacturer warranty covers the material. Our warranty covers our installation – levelling, seaming, and fabrication cuts. If our work fails, we come back and make it right.

Cambria Products We Service & Install in Anaheim

We work with Cambria’s current and recently discontinued series, including Brittanicca (white with soft gold veining), Ella (cream base with taupe veining), Skara Brae (warm beige with dramatic movement), and Torquay (cool gray with fine speckle). Our fabrication bench handles standard polished and honed finishes, undermount sink cutouts, waterfall island edges, and full-height backsplashes in the same slab. We stock local material for common Cambria edge profile repairs, seam adhesive tints, and sink cutout re-machining in the Anaheim area and Cambria in San Joaquin Hills, which means a repair visit doesn’t have to wait on a slow supply chain.

We Also Service These Brands

Cambria is one of the surfaces we build around, but it’s not the only one. Our full-scope kitchen and bath work also covers KraftMaid cabinetry, Silestone quartz, and Kohler and Toto plumbing fixtures – so when you’re planning a full kitchen remodel in Anaheim, one team manages the entire material list without finger-pointing between subs.

FAQs – Cambria Construction Service in Anaheim

Can you template and install a Cambria Brittanicca island top if my cabinets are already in?

Yes, and this is actually the order we prefer. We template your existing cabinet run in place, verify the substrate is level, and cut the Brittanicca slab to match. In Anaheim’s older tract homes, we’ll often find the cabinet run has settled slightly since the original build, which we correct before the slab goes down so the island top doesn’t develop a seam shadow or stress crack later. Call (855) 473-6535 to schedule a free template walkthrough.

Do you handle Cambria seam repair or do I need a full replacement?

Most seam repairs don’t require replacement. If a seam has opened or shows a shadow, we remove the old adhesive, re-level the substrate, and rebuild the seam with color-matched material specified for your Cambria series. Replacement is only called for when the slab body itself has cracked through or when multiple seams have failed from a bad original fabrication. If you send us a photo or let us visit, we’ll tell you which one you have.

How do you protect Cambria quartz from heat near an Anaheim kitchen cooktop?

We verify the expansion gap between the slab edge and the cooktop or wall during installation. Quartz expands faster than the surrounding materials when a gas range or oven heats up, and without clearance, that expansion force cracks the slab. We also recommend trivets for direct pan contact – Cambria is heat-resistant, not heat-proof, and sustained direct heat will damage the resin.

Which Cambria series works best for a small Anaheim condo kitchen?

For a compact condo kitchen, we typically steer homeowners toward a lighter series with finer movement, like Torquay or Ella. Large-scale veining – the dramatic swirls in Skara Brae – can overwhelm a short run, and the seam placement becomes more challenging when there’s less slab area to distribute the pattern. Light colors also help the space feel bigger. We’ll bring slab samples to your Anaheim unit so you can see how the material reads in your actual lighting.

Do you install a Cambria backsplash in the same visit as the counters?

We can, yes. A full-height Cambria backsplash in the same slab as the countertop gives you continuous veining across the vertical and horizontal surfaces, which is the cleanest look. We template both surfaces at the same time and install them together so the seams align. If you’re doing a tile backsplash instead, we coordinate that sequencing so the countertop is protected during the tile work. Call (855) 473-6535 for an exact quote – estimates are free.

Is Polaris Contractors authorized by Cambria?

No. We’re an independent contractor. Cambria does not operate an authorized installer network in the way some manufacturers do, and we don’t claim any official endorsement. What we have is hands-on fabrication and installation experience with the material across hundreds of Anaheim jobs. We specify the slab, cut it, and install it ourselves, and we stand behind our workmanship.

How much does Cambria construction cost in Anaheim?

Cambria countertop installation in Anaheim typically runs $2,000 to $6,500 depending on the series, square footage, edge profile, and sink cutout complexity. Kitchen island tops fall between $3,000 and $10,000. A Cambria backsplash adds $800 to $2,500, and if new cabinets are needed before templating, that runs $4,000 to $13,000.
