Tremron Construction in Laguna Beach, CA | Polaris Contractors

We provide independent Tremron paver and retaining wall installation, repair, and reset service across Laguna Beach, and the piece most contractors miss here is the foundation system underneath. Laguna Beach hillside homes sit on caissons, buttressed walls, and non-conforming setbacks from the 1950s through the 70s, which means a Tremron hardscape has to be designed to move independently of the house structure. That’s the difference between a patio that lasts fifteen years and one that cracks along the wall line in three. Polaris Contractors is a full-scope general contractor led by Rick Sondermann, and we’ve laid, cut, and reset Tremron pavers on canyon lots and oceanfront decks throughout the 92651 and 92652 ZIP codes. Why Laguna Beach Residents Choose Us for Tremron Service

Tremron is a Florida-based paver manufacturer that earned its reputation on coastal projects, and the product lines hold up well here when installed correctly. We know the specific profiles: Tremron Olde English Wall for retaining, Cambridge Cobble for patios and walkways, Mega Olde Towne for driveways that carry real weight, and Trellis or Diamond for a lighter, modern courtyard look. But the product is only half the job. Here in Laguna Beach, the salt air and canyon drainage mean the edge restraint, the joint sand, and the drainage plane all have to be specified to a higher standard than what a basic spec sheet calls for.

Rick Sondermann grew up in Corona del Mar and spent nearly three decades building and renovating homes along the Newport Beach coastline. He learned the fundamentals at Saddleback College, where courses in building technology and estimating shaped the way he specs material on every job now. We bring that same approach to Tremron service in Laguna Hills and throughout the area: understand the subgrade first, order the right product second. One team, full scope, from the roof down to the pavers.

Common Tremron Construction Problems We Solve in Laguna Beach

Here’s what we see most often on Tremron projects in this city, along with what’s actually causing each one:

  • Rust-stained edges and washed-out joints. Salt air and marine fog from the coast corrode standard steel edge restraints within two or three seasons. The pavers themselves are fine, but the edging and polymeric sand break down first. We replace the restraint with a higher-grade alloy and re-sand with a salt-tolerant blend.
  • Heaving at the deck-to-patio line. Homes built in the 1950s through the 70s on caisson-and-buttressed-wall foundations move differently than the paver base around them. The caisson cap shifts a fraction of an inch, the paver field stays put, and a gap or a cracked row opens along the wall line. This is the most common call we get for hillside Tremron repairs.
  • Settling on the downhill edge. Winter storm surf and canyon runoff erode the base course on slopes facing the water. Up-slope pavers look perfect; down-slope pavers rock when you step on them. The fix is a rebuilt base with drainage directed away from the wall, not just lifting the settled blocks.
  • Birdbaths and block-edge cracking on steep driveways. A driveway cut into a steep 92651 lot often sits on native canyon soil, not engineered fill. If the base wasn’t compacted in lifts and wasn’t drained, the surface collects water in low spots and the edges crack. That’s a re-lay job with a proper base rebuild.
  • Cracked or leaning Olde English Wall sections. On tight hillside lots, these walls often get backfilled behind them without adequate drainage gravel or a geotextile filter layer. Storm runoff saturates the backfill, the wall starts to lean, and the face opens up. We rebuild the wall with proper drainage and geotextile separation.

Tremron Service in Laguna Beach: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Every paver driveway, patio, or wall we build in the 92651 hills that touches a caisson-supported 1950s through 1970s house has to be detailed so the hardscape can move independently of the structural deck and buttressed retaining wall. The paver base is not the same foundation system. It must not be tied to it. That means we open a flexible joint at the wall line, install a fully drained base that doesn’t saturate the caisson cap, and make sure the field drains downhill away from the structure instead of toward it. It’s a coastal-canyon condition that flat inland Orange County paver jobs simply never design around. When we work on older hillside streets near the canyon edges, we assume the original plans are approximate and verify what’s actually there before any Tremron product goes in.

We saw this play out recently on a Mid-Century hillside home above Laguna Canyon. The homeowner wanted a Tremron Cambridge Cobble patio off the main deck, and the existing 1960s buttressed retaining wall had a visible crack at the return. Before ordering a single pallet, we had a geotechnical engineer read the wall and caisson caps, then set the Tremron base as a floating, drained slab separated from the structure by a flexible joint and edge restraint rated for salt air. The patio went in without loading the old wall, and it drains downhill instead of into the caisson line. Do it right the first time, the second time always costs more.

Tremron Models & Products We Service in Laguna Beach

We install, repair, and reset every Tremron product line commonly specified in Laguna Beach and Tremron in Aliso Viejo. That includes Tremron Olde English Wall retaining blocks, Cambridge Cobble and Mega Olde Towne pavers, and Trellis or Diamond pavers for lower-impact courtyards and walkways. We use Tremron-manufactured pavers and wall block for color and dimensional integrity, because a mismatched cube from another vendor doesn’t blend on a repair. But we source restraint, geotextile, and joint sand to higher corrosion and drainage specs than the box-store default, because salt and slope here demand it. If your Tremron run is still structurally sound, we lift, reset, and recompact the base rather than order new pavers. Full replacement only pays when the subgrade itself has failed.

Tremron Service Pricing in Laguna Beach

What drives cost on a Tremron job here is rarely the paver itself. It’s the base work, the drainage, and the structural separation detail required on caisson-supported homes. Earthwork and geotechnical review often outweigh material costs, especially on slope lots. Here are the line-item ranges we work within for Laguna Beach:

Service Typical Range
Paver Patio Installation $3,500 – $11,000
Paver Driveway Installation $7,000 – $18,000
Home Addition (hardscape tie-in) $45,000 – $130,000

Every estimate is free and breaks down the scope line by line, including whether a geotech report or coastal permit review applies to your property. Call (855) 473-6535 for a site visit and a written quote.
